My island is 75" long with a ceiling height of almost 9'. Will this fixture be too large for the island?
No sounds like it will be perfect. Our table is 72" and our ceilings are not quite 9' and it is beautiful!

Finish ? Color? Is the color of this metal more similar to oil rubbed bronze? Or does it have less warmth and brown than that?
I will say it has more brown than black. But if you are looking for it to go with oil rubbed bronze in your home I say it will go nicely. Mine is paired with more grey but the brown in it ties in with the brown in my table. If you like vintage and industrial looks this will be a good choice.
Can the glass lamp shades be replaced with other claxy eco power shades (specifically industrial edison mini glass pendant)
Yes, it can be replaced with industrial edison mini glass pendant. But the mini glass shades are much smaller than this one, so it may looks not good.

What is the maximum drop from ceiling? I have a very high sloped ceiling in kitchen I need a 60" drop so it looks right.
I can measure when I get home. But we did not use all of the roots so I am pretty sure it is at least 50 inches from ceiling to bottom of glass globe. I will measure and let you know
