I am in the process of replacing the exterior light fixtures on my house and wanted something with a classic look. Installation was easy and straightforward, which made the project go smoothly. The finished look is exactly what I was hoping for and fits my theme perfectly. The fixture feels very heavy duty and well built, and it gives off a solid, durable impression once mounted. The glass has visible imperfections and slight warping, which actually adds to the classic character rather than detracting from it.Now that it is installed, it has become a focal point and really enhances the overall appearance of my home. I am very happy with how it turned out and would absolutely choose this style again.
I was looking for a replacement light on the exterior of my entrance given my exiting one had some issues and stopped working correctly. It seemed to have no more motion sensor capabilities and certainly wasn't any longer performing its dusk until dawn tasks. When I saw this and the features it boasted I decided to give this a chance since the price seemed more than fair.I am immediately attracted by the look of this outdoor light as opposed to the old one. This has far more detail and intricacy in the design than the one before.Installation is as fast and good as it can be because a lot of that depends on the existing electrical box, wiring and connections. Luckily, I have some prior experience in electrical work and so replacing this was not hard at all. It came with everything necessary to do the work minus a few tools that are essential. You will need a wire cuter, an electrical pliers and possibly some electrical tape. A screw gun can also speed things up. This is if you went to tackle this install on your own and are familiar with at least how to stop power going to the light to ensure a safe installation.I do highly recommend getting a professional to install if you are not overly confident in your ability to get this done and that really shouldn't cost too much as the replacement is fairly straightforward. A professional having a good existing box and connection without surprises) like short wires, a loose box, etc.) should be able to get this done in 20 minutes tops.Once the old light was disconnected you will need to attach the mounting plate to the box and fish the wires through and then connect them correctly to the fixture's wires along with the ground wire for safety. That's really the toughest part because you will also need to measure and center everything as you prefer it to look good afterward.Once that is complete you just need to attach the rest of the housing and base of the fixture to the plate with some screws. I prefer adding some caulk to ensure a tight base to wall/siding, etc. installation to allow no bugs, leaks or even air to get to the connection and mounting hardware itself. The light quality is excellent, and I like that it can hold a bulb up to 60W. which for me is plenty bright and illuminates the doorway and door sufficiently.Based on previous fixtures I can tell this has a good quality coating making it very weather resistant which should allow it to last quite some time. With it being die cast aluminum there is a higher quality than others I've seen and had previously. I also love the ripple glass shade making the light coming from the inside that much more pleasing to the eye!
