How wide is the attachment to the wall?
Hi there. It’s 5 inches. Love the lights but putting the bulb in is a bit difficult. Worth it though. It looks great!
is there a switch on the light to turn it on and off separately? or does it automatically come on when you switch on the ceiling light?
there is no switch on this fixture.....
Can this be wired with a touch sensor?
yes BUT you must insure the sensor is compatible with the bulb you use

The cage sticks the farthest out. It is 5 1/8 inch projection from the wall
Can it be used outside
Sorry Wayne - this is an indoor light fixture - I guess you could purchase some weather proof seals or use lots of silicone but not sure how well the fixture itself would hold up to weather.
What bulb to your recommend for a glow that isn't too harsh?
We use the old vintage bulbs. I bought a six pack of them. They are kind of expensive for a lightbulb. But they give an old vintage yellow glow. I wouldn't use them as a reading light. I don't know about the bulbs lifespan yet.
