A The lower edge of the globe flares out to 8.25 inches on my light, but it is not made like the one in this picture. It flares out at the bottom.

Plenty flexible to bend to where ever you want. The only problem I could see is getting it to be complimentary to the fixture. Would take some creativity.

A It comes with cap that bolts to your box. A compression fitting holds the wire in place. I don't understand the purpose of the metal rod. I would said no you cant.

These are really nice. They ended up being a little more brown than we needed so I painted them matte black and they turned out great.

As other reviewers mentioned the color was a bit more brown than I would have liked but once hung that doesn’t make as much of a difference as I thought it would. The glass however is very inconsistent. I bought 4 of these and all have chips or small cracks in the glass. Also one of the mounting rings (part used to hold the glass on) is completely cross threaded so it will not go on straight. I just hope it doesn’t fail at some point.
